Morgan Stanley Downgrades $AFRM to Equalweight from Overweight, PT $79 Analyst comments: "Affirm remains, in our view, one of the highest-quality fintech assets in our coverage, with a best-in-class management team, differentiated product capabilities, and direct exposure to BNPL category share gains. However, with the stock up significantly since the late-March lows, we believe the stock now more properly reflects GMV durability, continued funding execution, best-in-class credit performance, and stable unit economics even amid higher 0% APR mix and an international push. Thus, we move AFRM to Equalweight and remove it as a Top Pick. Three key factors drive a more balanced risk/reward: (1) thesis resolution; (2) funding and credit execution; and (3) unit economics. At the time of our upgrade and Top Pick elevation, the market was focused on whether implied F2H26 growth signaled a potential slowdown. Recent results and the companyβs multi-year outlook for $100B of GMV underscore the durability of what we continue to see as best-in-class growth. Affirm has demonstrated programmatic and best-in-class execution across ABS and forward-flow channels while continuing to deliver best-in-class credit outcomes. Concerns that incremental growth would be accompanied by lower unit economics, particularly via 0% APR and international, have also moderated. We remain confident the business can sustain a broadly stable interest-bearing mix, with 0% APR expected to remain below 25% of GMV, while Card attach drives upward pressure on interest-bearing mix and serves as a tailwind to RLTC margin."
