Raymond James Downgrades $CHKP to Market Perform from Outperform Analyst comments: “We are downgrading CHKP to Market Perform from Outperform as recently improved sentiment, including multiple competitor upgrades over the past few weeks, contrasts with our deteriorating channel checks. We are increasingly getting the sense that this turnaround may take longer than we previously expected. Recall that Check Point reported first-quarter results that missed expectations, with Product revenue declining 3% year over year due to a series of management changes during a broad organizational restructuring. We identified weakness in our first-quarter channel checks and regret not acting sooner. While we initially chose to remain patient, our recent conversations with partners suggest trends have deteriorated further. Importantly, we are now hearing instances of customer churn, which is a new development. Bookings are down broadly, and the pipeline heading into the second half of the year appears weak, making a third-quarter rebound seem unlikely at this point. The reasons cited vary, but we consistently heard that: (1) endpoint security is becoming increasingly important in an AI-driven environment, and Check Point does not currently have a competitive offering, potentially making this an area for mergers and acquisitions; (2) personnel changes have created confusion, with some partners encountering difficulties executing even routine renewals; and (3) the initial enthusiasm surrounding new CEO Nadav Zafrir has faded following operational missteps and the company's failure to capitalize on important industry developments, including Project Glasswing, although we acknowledge Check Point's participation in Daybreak.” Analyst: Adam Tindle

Guggenheim Upgrades $CHKP to Buy from Neutral, PT $188 Analyst comments: "We are upgrading Check Point shares to Buy from Neutral and introducing a DCF-based price target of $188, implying 43% upside from current prices. Fundamentally, we believe CHKP shares are trading materially below the intrinsic value of its recurring revenue if it were run hyper-efficiently, in addition to its single-digit FCF multiple. We believe Check Point is taking the necessary steps to achieve its aspiration of double-digit top-line growth, but this upgrade is not dependent on that. At current prices, CHKP shares trade at 4.3x EV/NTM Recurring Revenue and 8.0x EV/NTM FCF, which is a discount to a group of security peers that trade at 11.6x Recurring Revenue and 35x FCF. We believe there is a reason the stock trades at these levels, as the company reported a disappointing 1Q following a go-to-market transition that the company expects will impact 2Q results as well, in addition to being a single-digit grower for some time. That said, we believe the bad news is already in the stock at these levels, which presents an interesting buying opportunity for investors. Lastly, Check Point announced a $2 billion expansion of its share repurchase authorization on May 11, which we believe implies that the company will continue to be opportunistic with share repurchases, especially if shares remain at these levels." Analyst: Raymond McDonough
