Morgan Stanley Initiates $ONTO at Overweight, PT $371 Analyst comments: "We think there is upside to Street estimates as well as scope for multiple re-rating for ONTO, a process control SPE company involved in both the back-end and front-end, driven by three drivers: 1) Advanced Node: We model ONTO’s advanced node revenue growth at 30% in 2026 vs. WFE at 27%, implying 3ppt of outgrowth, and 39% in 2027 vs. WFE at 28%, implying 11ppt of outgrowth. We think outgrowth is more cyclical than structural as ONTO benefits from a broader set of leading-edge logic customers, NAND spending accelerating in 2027, and increased process control intensity in DRAM. 2) Advanced Packaging: We model ONTO’s Specialty Device and Advanced Packaging revenue growing 46% in 2026 and 38% in 2027, led by Dragonfly G5 in advanced packaging and inorganic growth from Semilab in Specialty Device. We see three moonshots (Echoscan, 3Di, PLP) that could each become $100mn+ revenue contributors during our forecast horizon through 2028, but we model limited contribution. 3) Gross Margin: We model ONTO’s GM to expand from 54.6% in 2025 to 58.0%/58.3% in 2027/2028 as the company benefits from its manufacturing shift to Asia, along with stronger front-end and software revenue. We believe GM expansion supports a case for valuation re-rating, as our 60% GM SPE companies trade at a 24% valuation premium to those with GM of 50%." Analyst: Shane Brett
